Struggling with nerves and anxiety when you compete?

Fear not - I've got you dear athlete. 🫶🏽

When athletes improve physically, move up a level, or face stronger competition, their mental game often takes a dip.

Not because they're "not cut out for pressure"...

But because what worked naturally before often doesn't work when circumstances change or the stakes are raised.

When this happens, a lot of the advice they get isn’t very helpful...

Why?

Because it tells them how they "should" feel, but it doesn't help them manage what they are actually feeling.

That’s exactly what makes the Nerves and Anxiety Playbook different.

First, you’ll understand the basics:
Why nerves or anxiety shows up and what’s happening inside your brain and body when they do....

(Most athletes are never taught this.)

Then it’s time to use that understanding to build your own nerves-and-anxiety strategy — grounded in principles.

Not based on:
• How you think you should feel
• How you assume everyone else feels
• How you think others expect you to feel

But on how the brain and body actually work under pressure.

Because strategy beats guesswork.

Every time.

Let me explain why having a strategy is so important...

😅EVEN if it's super simple.

✅ 9 times out of 10, athletes don't struggle not because they “can’t handle pressure” or are “lacking confidence.”

✅ They struggle because they don’t have a clear plan for what to do when nerves or anxiety show up.

✅ When there’s no plan, the mind fills in the gaps — usually with doubts and fears.

✅ They rock up the day of competition, and they scramble to deal with their performance jitters.

✅ They try to fight their feelings, make sense of them, or change them into something “better”.

✅ That's why they feel overwhelmed, unfocused, and mentally exhausted before the competition even starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this for?

All athletes, as young as 7 years old. Coaches, Parents, Managers, and anyone who wants to understand how to manage their nerves and anxiety rather than just winging it.

Younger athletes will need the assistance of a parent to understand some parts.
The earlier this playbook becomes part of what you know about nerves and anxiety, and the approach you take in managing them, the better!

How long does it take to read?

You can easily read the entire playbook in 30 minutes.
Then you can start putting together your strategy, in the order it's been presented to you. The idea is for you to use tools and information, right away, at your very first practice session and competition thereafter... until it becomes second nature.

How long will it take for me to see results?

Most athletes see results after the very first time they compete. However, that doesn't mean that they necessarily win or have the best performance of their life. It means that they understand what they're feeling, and see and feel an improvement in how they were able to manage their nervous and anxious moments, better than ever before.

Does it matter if I don't do everything in the Playbook?

Not at all. The most important thing is that you start! Start small. Start scared even... but start using the principles that are covered in the playbook to start building a strategy for how you're going to manage your nervous/anxious moments. Some athletes take a month or two to get momentum going and then only start adding more elements to their strategy.
